Bards of the Badlands
The Bards
We have ridden to your lands in order to bring you the tales from our own, but who ARE we? Why should we trust these strangers around our campfires and in our town squares? If we are being fully honest, you should likely remain wary, though were is the fun in that, right? That being said, we are nothing if not gentlemen and gentlemen issue a proper introduction. So here and now we shall humbly offer a bit about ourselves...
Evan Hubbard
Though he once hailed from the capital city of bards, Los Angeles, Evan Hubbard found he didn't relate to the plastic faced, vapid performers of the region. This lingering doubt made it quite easy for a Bavarian witch and seductress to lure him away to the land of Deutsch with her powers of enchantment. Evan is a barber by trade, but has always in his blackened heart of hearts, been a crafter of stories. To satiate this need to entertain, he first turned to the bright lights of the comedy club stage where he peddled his jokes for the judgement and ridicule of the beast that is the general public. Needless to say, the country in which he currently finds himself is not home to those whose funny bone is easily tickled. There had to be a better way to unleash the thoughts and ideas ever coursing through his cluttered mind.
One day, the fates graciously dropped the answer into Evan`s lap. A birthday celebration in a smoke filled tavern would set the scene and put in motion the series of events that led him to the path of barddom. Bardhood? Bardacity? Regardless of the proper terminology, that tavern was the catalyst, for it was there that he encountered a fellow bard with similar, macabre tastes and ambitions.
From that point the stories began to flow from them as the pair began preparations for addressing the masses. Records of their exploits were meticulously polished and catalogued. And even a few more bards were coerced into the equation. So now, with a skilled troupe of sadistic story tellers, Evan and company spin disturbing yarns and weave wicked tales for you all to either delight in or be repulsed by...
Johannes Schumacher
Lacking the keen wit or polished finesse to secure a position among the egregiously overpaid scribes of our age, Johannes Schumacher instead channels his boundless creative fervor into crafting tales and breathing life into characters as a modern-day Bard. Emerging from the shadowed depths of the Black Forest, he journeyed forth only to find himself entwined in curious and undoubtedly dubious alliances with foreign Americans—first encountered in the dim, smoky haze of a Bavarian tavern, where he was, by all accounts, splendidly intoxicated. The rest, as they say, is history, though the horrifying best is yet to come...
Kerstin Hartmann
In the bustling courts of Munich, where innovation clashes with tradition and stories flow like the finest Bavarian brew, Kerstin emerged—not merely as a teller of tales or architect of the stories themselves, but a player with undiscovered hot passion for fighting for diversity and against authority. With origins rooted in the hallowed halls of hospitality, she honed her craft amidst gatherings where minds met and ideas sparked, spinning webs of connection between creators and thinkers alike.
It was at the famed Hackerbrücke Meet & Make, in the flickering glow of the geekish hearth, that she first felt the stirrings of the arcane pull that would draw her deeper into realms of tech, community, and the shadowed corridors of innovation. From there, her journey led to the mysterious JS Kongress, a sanctuary for minds curious and bold—a place where Kerstin refined her craft, wielding influence over gatherings and drawing from hidden reservoirs of creativity, even as the world around her shuttered in pandemic’s grip.
Now, as a proud Bard of the Badlands, Kerstin channels her talents for conjuring gatherings and shaping conversations into the realm of eldritch tales and forbidden knowledge. Those who dare sit around her fires may find themselves inspired, entranced, or even unsettled by her insights into what binds us all. With every whisper of the strange and the wicked that she unveils, she reminds us that diversity begins in the heart, bravery in the mind, and magic in the spaces where we dare gather.
